Scandinavian band Sail By Summer releases a new album next month, you don’t want to miss this!
Do you know Sail By Summer? If not, there you go:
Sail By Summer is an indie pop/rock band composed of Norwegian Grammy award winner William Hut and his long-time Danish collaborator Jens Kristian. They both come from Western Scandinavia, more particularly from Bergen, Norway. The nature here is majestic, between the fjords, the rain, and the mountains. It’s this particular, melancholic atmosphere that you can hear through Sail By Summer’s sounds.
They started in 2018 with their first release “Low Tide Exit” and now, one year later, they’re about to release their debut album “Casual Heaven” on August 9th. This debut album will offer songs about “longing, lack of self-confidence, songs about indifference and choice of directions”. They’ve already released one single from this album, “Fetch you Roses”.
There’s this mix of restraint, melancholia and calm, you don’t know if you should feel sad, empty or just enjoy the music. The song starts rather quietly with a simple soundtrack and William’s voice, instauring calm. Then, at the beginning of the refrain, the music behind gets heavier while staying beautifully held though. It reminds at some points of some Pink Floyds’ songs. Then, it gets more rhythmed before calming down at the end. The lyrics are not the happiest, but they’re touching and there’s a kind of poetry emerging from them. I don’t know about you, but I really liked this song from the first time I listened to it, and I keep listening to it over and over.
