Having become one of the most talked about people in the World with the release of ‘Harry‘ earlier in the year, LA based kiwi artist Kelsy Karter today reveals the cinematic video for sky reaching new single ‘ Liquor Store On Mars. ‘ Taken from her upcoming debut EP ‘Rocket Girl’, the video for ‘Liquor Store On Mars’ serves as further testament that Kelsy Karter is a star in waiting. Speaking on the video, Karter states:
“The song is a metaphor for finding a way to get over a broken heart. Escaping to mars was my way of getting through that. In the video I crash-land back on earth, representing the reality that you can’t runaway from your problems forever. Adam Slack, from The Struts, features in this video and my band are by my side as per usual. At the end of the video I watch my rocket ship fly back to mars, and with that, I’m letting go of the pain.”
An artist who combines stunning Janis Joplin- esque vocals with an admiration for true grass roots Rock, Karter has been riding a wave of momentum over the past months, with the likes of i-D, V, TIME, Billboard, Nylon, Clash Magazine and PAPER tipping Kelsy Karter as an artist to watch. Upcoming debut project, ‘ Rocket Girl’, looks set to cement Kelsy Karter as an artist making big-room stadium rock influenced music with a modern edge. Taking inspiration from the icons of yesteryear, Karter hopes to be at the forefront of a new wave of rock artists, and ‘Rocket Girl’ serves as the foundation of that.
Look out for ‘Rocket Girl‘ before the year is out.
