The dedication that Pere Ubu display to the reinvention of their sound even after forty something years and 16 studio albums is impressive. I can’t think of any other band that John Peel’s quote “always different, always the same” could apply to more. Yes I know, Peel said that for the Fall, but please tell me why the above cannot apply to Pere Ubu’s music as well… Anyway these two bands are highly similar, from the way they approach music to the way they open new paths for it through the evolution of their sound.

The Fall played a few weeks ago in Berlin, unfortunately I didn’t manage to go. Pere Ubu are playing this Sunday at Volksbühne. It would have been nice to see them playing together. Hopefully sometime in the future. For the time being just make sure that you don’t miss their gig. Experimental pop art from another scope…
